Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions about NORMAS, norm calculation, work study, measurement methods, shift factor, Second / Third Analysis, AI, reports, licensing and language.

What is NORMAS?+
NORMAS is a work-study-based norm staffing and workforce analysis application. It runs the whole process in one place, from the staffing request to the final report: proposal and scope, working calendar and shifts, allowances, measurement method suggestion, workload analysis per person, Second / Third Analysis for overload, the norm table and reports.
What is a norm staffing level and how is it calculated?+
A norm staffing level is the number of staff a unit needs to do its work at a defined efficiency and service level. The basic logic: annual workload (standard time × frequency) ÷ one person's annual effective working time. A fractional result is rounded with a 70% threshold; the difference to current headcount and utilization are calculated.
What is the work study method?+
Work study is the method used to measure and organize work. Observed time is normalized with a performance rating and rest / personal / delay allowances are added: Standard Time = Normal Time × (1 + Allowances). Every NORMAS phase has a guide explaining the steps and tools of the method.
Which measurement methods are available?+
Nine methods: time study (stopwatch), PMTS — MTM / MOST, work sampling, work log, survey (self-reported), driver-based (volume × unit time), Erlang C, post + concurrency, and takt & line balancing. Blue- and white-collar work have their own methods; a position can be cross-checked with several methods.
Why does the shift factor matter?+
The number of people needed to fill a continuous post (security, control room, 24/7 line) is larger than the number of shifts, because one person cannot work the whole year due to leave and holidays. NORMAS calculates the shift factor automatically from the position's shift pattern and working calendar.
What are the Second and Third Analysis?+
If the workload declared in the first analysis exceeds the position's gross annual capacity by more than 110%, NORMAS lists it for a Second Analysis; the interview is repeated with the person. If the second measurement also exceeds 110%, a Third Analysis with a line manager is created automatically. Each round is stored separately and can be compared.
What does the AI do?+
On request it suggests allowances and measurement methods, reviews an analysis and suggests a final value, compares the analysis with job descriptions and earlier analyses to flag conflicts, interprets the norm results and prepares management reports. It never runs on its own; suggestions open in a preview and the final decision is the consultant's. Reports do not attribute statements to individuals. AI features are activated as part of the license and setup.
Which reports does it produce?+
Norm Staffing Report (PDF), consulting effort table (PDF), execution plan and consultant workload (PDF / Excel), Analysis Detail Report (Word), overload and pending lists and Job Description Status (Excel); with AI, a Preliminary Report, Management Report (PDF), Muda and Potential Gains (PDF) and a Final Report (PowerPoint).
Can several consultants work on the same project?+
Yes. The project team and project roles are defined and positions are assigned to consultants; in the analysis a consultant sees and edits only their assigned positions. There are user roles (Super Admin, Admin, Member) and an audit log of logins and role and assignment changes.
Which license models are available? What are the prices?+
Monthly subscription, annual subscription, purchase (perpetual license) and a project license for Grupas projects. Pricing depends on the license model and the number of users — contact us through the demo / quote form.
Does it need installation?+
No. NORMAS runs in the browser; a separate environment and a separate database are prepared by Grupas for each customer.
What language is the application in?+
The NORMAS interface, guide and reports are in Turkish. This website is in four languages; let's discuss your need for another language in the demo call.
How can I get a demo?+
Fill in the demo / quote form; we will get back to you and schedule a live walkthrough with sample data.
